The single most common question we get from new customers is also the one that does the most work in their wardrobe: can I wear my pearls to the office? The answer is a quiet yes — and once you know the three rules below, you will wonder why you ever took them off.
Rule 1: Pick the right size
For a desk-to-dinner piece, the sweet spot is a 6 to 8 millimeter pearl. It is small enough to feel polished under a button-down, but visible enough to read as a deliberate choice across a meeting table. We suggest starting with a single-strand necklace at 17 inches, or a pair of studs at 7 mm.
Rule 2: Match the luster to the room
Bright Akoya pearls catch fluorescent light beautifully. Slightly satiny freshwater pearls photograph more naturally on video calls. Dark Tahitians disappear in low-lit restaurants but make a statement in window-lit conference rooms. There is no wrong choice — only the wrong setting for the choice.
Rule 3: Layer without competing
The fastest way to wear pearls every day without looking overdone is to pick one statement piece and keep the rest small. A pendant + a thin chain + a single ring. Or studs + a tennis bracelet. Once you start wearing them, you will find your own combinations — and your colleagues will start asking where you bought them.
